Sponsoring Scholarships
There are two ways to sponsor scholarships with NMEF: establishing an endowment or annually funding a “pass-through” scholarship.
Endowed Scholarships
You can contribute to the New Mexico Engineering Foundation by creating an endowment. Working together, the terms and conditions of your endowment will be carefully established, and the money will then be invested into a relatively stable and conservative investment fund where it will gain value through interest. Collectively, our investments make up a major portion of our funding, allowing us to continue to fund more scholarships. Annual scholarships would then be distributed depending on fund performance using funds available from your endowment.
Annual Scholarships
You also have the option of donating to the New Mexico Engineering Foundation in the form of an annual pass-through scholarship. After working together to establish your scholarship criteria, you will provide its funding on an annual basis. A 5% fee will be requested for pass-through scholarships to cover administrative costs incurred by NMEF.

Volunteer Opportunities
Help Select Scholarship Recipients
We invite you to join us in reviewing applications and selecting students to receive annual scholarships. Everyone is welcome.
We particularly encourage sponsors or donors to get involved in the scholarship review process. For many contributors, NMEF completely administers scholarships on their behalf, according to their criteria and wishes.
Central New Mexico Science and Engineering Research Challenge Award Review and Selection
Every year, we rally a team of volunteers to review science fair presentations at the Central New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair. We award the Research Challenge Award to worthy individuals and teams who demonstrate an effort to solve a problem by applying science, technology, engineering or math.
Volunteer with Mathcounts
Encouraging students to pursue careers that require high levels of math is cause that requires involvement from those across disciplines and organizations.
NMEF works with Mathcounts to support its goal of engaging students in fun ways that nurture their interest in math.
Mathcounts offers programs aimed at middle school students that are focusing on making math fun. We strive to participate with Mathcounts in any way that we can.
