What is NMEF?
New Mexico Engineering Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1991 by the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers (NMSPE). We are designated as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
What do we do?
New Mexico Engineering Foundation is a collective of professional engineers and community volunteers collaborating to strengthen and promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
Partnering with educational institutions, professional organizations, private companies, and individuals, NMEF raises and distributes scholarship funds to encourage and support students pursuing careers in STEM.
In 2022, over 19,250 of scholarships were awarded to deserving students pursuing degrees in science, engineering, technology, or mathematics. Recipients included current college students enrolled at New Mexico Universities and Colleges, and graduating high school seniors residing in New Mexico intending to enroll in an ABET accredited program within the United States.

How Do We Operate?
NMEF brings together professionals, educators and community members to support engineering and science students in New Mexico through administering endowed and pass-through scholarships to streamline funds distribution and eliminate competition between organizations with similar goals.
Contributions to NMEF may be made by private companies, organizations and individuals.
Anyone who meets the criteria may apply for scholarship funds from NMEF for qualified engineering and science programs. As a nonprofit organization, NMEF operates with full transparency and uses all funds to support engineering and science education programs.
